92health builds software that eye-care clinics run their day on: an EMR with ophthalmology workflows, pharmacy and optical counters with inventory and billing, surgery workflow and a patient app. We are an early-stage company with a first group of clinics in Chennai as customers.

The role

You will be our first engineer besides the founders. You will own releases to production and the customer bug queue, and build features across the stack, working closely with the founder who built the product.

Responsibilities

• Take merged changes to production and verify them.
• Reproduce and fix bugs reported by clinics, add tests, and close the loop with the reporter.
• Keep the unit, integration and end-to-end test suites green.
• Reproduce device-specific issues (receipt printers, front-desk PCs, the Android app), including visits to clinics in Chennai.
• Build features across the frontend, backend and database.
• Use AI coding tools daily and review their output before merging.

Requirements

• 3 to 6 years building web applications with JavaScript on the frontend and backend, with a relational database.
• Experience running production deployments and handling incidents.
• Writes automated tests as part of every change.
• Clear written communication.
• Based in Chennai or relocating.

Nice to have

• Healthcare, billing or finance software.
• Android or mobile web apps in production.
• Spoken Tamil.

Compensation

Fixed monthly pay based on experience, with no variable component. Hours follow the work rather than a conventional office week; the job is in Chennai, with commutes to client clinics across the city and work from our Guindy office as needed.
